How being a PTA member benefits YOU!
The Jennings PTA isn't just about meetings and fundraisers. It is also about getting to know the faculty, influencing policy, understanding the issues that affect our children during the day, and supporting your child's school.

Get Involved: Volunteer, Attend PTA meetings, Attend school events. Get to know the teachers who are with your kids from 8:55 until 3:05.

Free in school family programs (BINGO, Movie nights, etc…)
Discounted prices at all other family events (Bowling night, Rock Cats Game, etc…)
Revealing to your children the importance of education through your involvement

What does the PTA do at John J. Jennings Elementary School?
The PTA at Jennings works as a partner to the school’s administration and faculty. The PTA helps to provide volunteers, funding and programs to help our students reach their potential. A portion of your PTA dues is sent to the Connecticut State PTA and to the National PTA. These groups lobby for children’s issues, provide training for parents and teachers and help our PTA provide workshops and programs that benefit our children, teachers and parents.

Here at Jennings, your dues will help fund various programs and school activities throughout the year, such as…

· Field Trips (paid out over $5,000 in field trip money)
· Scholarships (2 - $500 scholarships)
· Yearbook
· Back to School Ice Cream Social
· Field Day
· Red Ribbon Week (Anti-Drug Program)
· Hospitality for "Math League" and "Family Life Skills"
· Bike Safety program
· "Daisy the Pig" Read-a-thon - Minors Farm
· Book Donations to teachers and the library (over $1,000 worth)

Our PTA volunteers are credited for helping out Jennings by:

· Holding Fundraisers (Craft Fair, McDonald's night, Book Fair, Flower sale, Holiday pies / cakes)
· Setting up the Bulletin Boards
· Running a school store program
· Running Popcorn Friday program
· Providing hospitality at events (coffee, snacks, ice cream, popsicles)
· Landscaping
· Keep communications open through our newsletter / website / pamphlets

Your PTA membership doesn’t place your name on a volunteer list! It does show your support for the work we are doing as we try to build a supportive community of respect and understanding for our students and staff.

Please consider making an additional (tax-deductible) donation to the PTA’s general fund. Your membership card will be sent home with your child. In the case of cash payments we will send you a receipt along with your membership card.
